Five global nuclear powers pledged in a joint statement to prevent the further spread of nuclear weapons and work to avoid a nuclear war ahead of a treaty review conference.
“We affirm that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought,” the permanent members of the United Nations Security Councils house, then ope, known as the P5, said in a statement on Monday.

The joint statement came ahead of a review conference for the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
